US LEC Offers Additional
Scalability with New Data and Internet Products
Release Date: 6/28/2004
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jun 28, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall
via COMTEX/ -- US LEC Corp. (CLEC), a super-regional telecommunications
carrier providing integrated voice, data and Internet services to businesses
and enterprise organizations throughout the Eastern United States, continues
to grow its data product suite with the introduction of Burstable Dedicated
Internet and Multi- Link FAST Pipe, two new products designed to meet
the rapidly-changing communications requirements of mid-to-large sized
businesses.
Customers with occasional high capacity DS3 and OC3
needs can now take advantage of US LEC's new Burstable Dedicated Internet
product. This service provides significant flexibility by accommodating
a customer's Internet bandwidth needs at peak times when Internet traffic
"bursts," while only requiring the purchase of a smaller, committed
bandwidth amount for normal Internet usage. US LEC bills customers for
any traffic "bursts" at the 95th percentile, and will even make
the customer aware of any unusually heavy traffic patterns.
Multi-Link FAST Pipe(SM) applies the same technology
to Internet service that is utilized by Multi-Link Frame Relay, which
US LEC announced last year. By incrementally linking multiple DS1 lines,
customers eliminate the need to purchase larger costly DS3 facilities
to increase capacity. By allowing Internet traffic to travel over multiple
facilities as though they were a single line, information can be transported
more quickly and inexpensively. In addition to the convenience of growing
their network step by step without large increases in cost, customers
benefit from improved network survivability and reliability as the temporary
failure of one DS1 line will not affect the others in the bundle.
"Burstable Dedicated Internet and Multi-Link FAST
Pipe are two of the latest products in US LEC's roll-out of flexible services
which allow customers to access incremental bandwidth as they need it
to meet their own requirements," said Jeff Blackey, senior vice president
of marketing and business development for US LEC. "Customers can
now purchase higher speeds and greater bandwidth at more affordable rates.
It's another example of how US LEC is customizing products to meet and
exceed our customers' expectations for quality, and another reason US
LEC continues to be the premier communications choice for businesses."
